Quantech Employee Spotlight

During a meeting in our X-3 division earlier this year, a fellow Missile Defense Agency colleague fell victim to an apparent heart attack.  Quantech employees Jonathan Norris and Rob Gurner, co-workers at the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) program, sprang into action to check the victim’s vital signs, which appeared to be in critical condition.  Mr. Norris immediately located the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment, while Mr. Gurner ensured emergency officials and senior leadership were notified.  The pair, with help from GMD War Room team members, applied the AED and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques to successfully sustain the victim until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived.

Paramedics were very complimentary, crediting both with lifesaving measures.  They stressed the importance in being aware of your nearest AED unit, as well as proper planning and preparation for emergency-situation countermeasures.

Both Mr. Norris and Mr. Gurner received framed Senior Executive Services (SES) letters of recognition from their program executive.  Their actions were nothing less than heroic, and directly attributable to instinct and training.
